Thermal Baths Berendonk

Flexibel production and problem solving capabilities

PrtScr capture_37

May 2019 - Nijmegen, the Netherlands

Commissioned by Linthorst Techniek, Elektro Internationaal was responsible for the design and assembly of the distribution panels for the Thermal Baths Berendonck wellness resort. Elektro International has been engineering, producing and programming distribution panels and control technology for 40 years. Linthorst opted for the Woerden panel builder because of their known track record, their high-quality product and efficient working methods.

The Utility team of Elektro Internationaal supplied two main distributors, each with its own power supply in Schneider Electric’s Prisma P, one of 2,500 Amp and one of 1,000 Amp. Main distributor1 supplies the power for all indoor facilities at Berendonck, while main distributor2 distributes energy for the facilities in the outdoor area. The two larger sub-distributors are also built in Prisma P. This concerns a 1,000 Amp panel on the roof of the complex, on which the large energy-efficient heat pumps developed by Linthorst Techniek for the swimming pool run. And then there is a heavy sub distributor for the catering section.

Switching and measuring
For the sauna area, Elektro Internationaal supplied various ”sauna distributors”, built in Prisma G and equipped with the necessary KNX media that ensure the regulation of heating and lighting in the various types of saunas. Saunas with names that appeal to the imagination, including a theater sauna and a meditation sauna. Names that imply that a well-designed circuit is a prerequisite for the experience of the sauna visitor. The panels are also fitted with Socomec sensors and analyzers that send all consumption information to one display on the panels. The screens have an interchangeable display, so that the consumption of different components can be shown in visuals on the same screen.

Connection made on site
The panels are connected with a busbar system by Legrand. Normally Elektro Internationaal makes the connection for the busbar in the workshop. Due to a limited opening in the floor construction, however, the connection of the main distributor (MD1) was made on site. Especially for this Elektro International made the preparations in the copper work of the distribution panel based solely on the specifications sent by email. On site an Elektro International service employee lifted a 150 kg circuit-breaker from the distributor and kept it lifted with straps to make enough work space to connect the panel. “This kind of problem-solving capacity of Elektro Internationaal is one of the reasons that we are happy to work with them. In addition, they are flexible in their production, so that we were able to meet deadlines for time-critical projects like this one, ”says Rob Nab, project manager at Linthorst Techniek.
