June 2017, Rotterdam - The Netherlands

The port of Rotterdam has gained serious storage room. Over the past six months, a new building has been created that will serve as a huge fridge-freezer with the sounding name Cool Port.

With a size of approximately 90 x 300 meters and a height of 15 meters, this enormous refrigerator offers space for 40,000 pallets of fruit and vegetables, which are stored and transshipped in large sea containers from abroad. Last week the first cargo of pomegranates was received.

New concept distributor in Rittal
Commissioned by TES Installatietechniek Tilburg, Elektro Internationaal and STBenelux focused on the energy supply. It consists of 2 transformers of 2.5 mVA each, the first transformer feeds the installations for freezing cells (3 units) and the other transformer provides all light and power. Both transformers together with the low-voltage main distributor are located in a separate building next to the main building. The special feature of the technical installation in this building is that the main distributor built by Elektro Internationaal is a new concept Rittal distributor with a bottom-lying, fully integrated, rail system. Equally special is the fact that the building’s power is supplied by busbar system designed and supplied by STbenelux. The system is laid out like a giant ribbon throughout the building and thus supplies all ten sub-distributors with voltage.

Chic busbar lighting

This heavy, 4000A busbar is installed in plain view under the suspended ceiling and combined with a cable support system. Together they form a slick looking technical installation, illuminated by the latest dimmable LED tube lighting that can be regulated in terms of strength per light line. The white walls and the completely white ceiling make the whole look chic, with the 5 smaller 400A junction boxes mounted on the busbar forming a beautiful contrast with their almost signal red color.

The ever successful combination of STbenelux and Elektro Internationaal had to make every effort to deliver this special work on time, but this has been achieved to the great satisfaction of both the client and the owner. Needless to say we are very proud of this cool project!
