How to bridge the gap between engineering and panelbuilding? That’s the question we have found an answer to at Elektro Internationaal. Instead of using the old way of handing down schematics to the workshop and the resulting manual processing of information and preparation of materials, Elektro Internationaal has opted for linking the schematic design in EPlan to a brand new CNC-machine in the workshop.
Digital to CNC
Our colleagues in the engineering department have worked hard on writing a computer protocol and predefining settings. They have made it possible to design mounting panels and fronts in EPlan wih all the customer’s specs and subsequently import this information into the CNC-machine: a Steinhauer ModCenter.
Ingenious coding
The Steinhauer reads the imported schematics and due to an ingenious coloring code knows exactly where and with what depth it should either drill, cut or mill the sheet metal. Ideal for batch production and challenging custom design. The link between digital schematics and the CNC-machine not only saves time but also results in less production errors and less waste of materials. Moreover our mechanics can focus on other parts of the production process.
Elektro Internationaal keeps looking for ways to further bring together engineering and manufacturing in order to ensure an efficient production process and a high-quality product. The link between EPlan and the Steinhauer ModCenter is a perfect step towards that goal.
