12.5 meter long distribution panel Schiphol

Main distributor, generator controls and busbar system

January 2018, Schiphol – The Netherlands

Elektro Internationaal has renewed an important main distribution system in the newly built low-voltage area at Schiphol Airport, commissioned by the Dutch installer Engie.

The panel, built in Schneider Electric’s Okken system, provides the entire passenger area between Pier D and Pier E with the required power. The panel is produced in building form 4a and equipped with Masterpact NW protections for each of the four incoming power supplies and smaller Masterpact NW and Compact NSX on the outgoing groups. The board measures an impressive length of 12.5 meters, making it one of the longest distribution panels at the airport.

Generator control
At the same time - in the simultaneously renovated generator room, which is at some distance from the main distributor - a new generator has been installed by Kemper & Van Twist. They commissioned Elektro Internationaal to supply the required generator controls and to install the panel that provides a quick switchover to emergency power operation for critical groups in the event of a power failure.

Busbar system
In the same joint venture, expert partner STbenelux delivered a fully assembled bus bar system, which connects the main distributor to the generator distributor over a total length of 69 meters. A choice was made for the IP55 splash-proof transport rail from the Canalis brand - also from Schneider Electric - with the advantage that the various components in the installation fit perfectly together.

In phases 2 & 3, three new transformers will be connected each with a Canalis IP68 waterproof rail molded from epoxy resin.
