Custom generator connector panels

Elektro Internationaal recently engineered two generator connector panels for HITEC Power Protection, inventor and manufacturer of dynamic UPS technology, for two of their PowerPRO2700 generators in the Tieto Datacenter in Finland.

HITEC placed the order for the connector panels with Elektro Internationaal because of positive passed experiences and the completeness of the offer in combination with a good price.  One trusted point of contact (engineer John Berkhof), was an absolute plus.

All breakers equipped with PLC
Elektro Internationaal engineered and manufactured the panels in construction form 3b-type 2 in a Schneider Electric Prisma-P panel. The installation can carry a constant nominal power of 2900 amps and has a short-circuit power of 65.000 amps with a dynamic short-circuit power of 143.000 amps. Each breaker (Masterpact NW32H1 with micrologic 5.0E protection) is controlled by a Phoenix Contact PLC of its own.

Special requests
As requested by HITEC the entire installation was spray painted in RAL7035 in order to visually match the generators to perfection. The installation has another unique feature: the specially designed connection flags which enable the panels to be directly connected to the existing rail system. 

Custom hoisting frame
In order to meet HITEC’s demand that the installation be moved, transported and installed as a whole, a custom hoisting frame was developed and mounted. The frame was used by transporter Van Dam to lift the installation onto the truck and unload it at the HITEC test site in Almelo (the Netherlands) where it was completed with the necessary controls and software. The panels passed the tests with flying colors and have been installed on location in Finland.
